Glossary
The vocabulary the rest of the guide assumes. Terms are defined once here and linked from the topics that use them.
- Action Wheel — the round menu that opens from a person’s avatar anywhere in the suite, offering what you can do with them (chat, mail, call, task, …). See Use the Action Wheel.
- about reference — the
about=<kind>:<id>tag a topic carries in its frontmatter, naming the screen(s) it documents. The in-product assistant uses it to ground its answers. - Channel — a space in VNCchannels+ where people discuss in topics. (A “channel” is a VNCchannels+ idea — in chat it is a room.)
- Entitlement — the VNCdirectory+ grant that lets a person open a product. Admins have everything; everyone else sees the products they are entitled to.
- EVM — Earned Value Management: VNCproject+ tracks planned against actual cost and schedule.
- Grant — an access-and-sharing entry in VNCdirectory+ that gives a person or group access to a resource (a file, a channel, a board, …).
- Lago / the assistant — the in-product AI assistant (VNCai), opened from the top bar. It answers from the page you are on. See Use the assistant.
- Org path — the position of a person or unit in the organisation tree (root → units → person), carried in your sign-in.
- Person — an identity in VNCdirectory+. Products reference people by this id; they never keep their own user list.
- Presence — whether someone is available. Set it from your avatar; it shows next to a person. See Your account and presence.
- Projection — the model where VNCdirectory+ is the single source of truth (people, tenancy, grants) and each product shows that data by reference while owning its own content.
- Request — an item that moves through a VNCworkflow route (leave, purchase, …).
- Room — a conversation in VNCchat+: a group room or a direct message.
- Root / tenant — the top of your organisation in VNCdirectory+; all data is scoped to it.
- Single sign-on (SSO) — one sign-in that opens every entitled product with no re-login. See Sign in to VNClagoon+.
- Sovereign — your data stays on infrastructure you control (on-premises or in a certified European data centre). See How VNClagoon+ keeps your data sovereign.
- Suite basics — the parts of the VNClagoon+ shell that are the same in every product. See Getting around VNClagoon+.
- Sync space — a folder in VNCfiles kept in sync with a desktop or mobile client.
- Topic — a discussion thread inside a VNCchannels+ channel.
- View — a saved or built-in way of looking at a list (for example All mail, Unread).
- Workspace — a scoped area in VNCfluid that gathers the apps, views and data for a team or purpose.
