Add videos to a channel
There are two ways to put a video into a channel:
- One video, by hand — create a Media topic and upload it (or paste a link).
- A batch of videos — an operator imports a whole list; the videos are copied in with a title, author, description, header image and transcript generated for you.
Both end up the same way in the channel: a media topic you can watch and read.
Add one video by hand
Section titled “Add one video by hand”- In a channel, choose New topic and set the type to Media.
- Add a cover: in Images, + Add images, then Set as cover.
- Add the video — either paste a YouTube / Vimeo URL, or Upload video… to store the file in the channel.
- Add a title and, if you like, some text.
- Publish (or Save draft).
See Create a media topic for the full steps.
What a batch-imported video looks like
Section titled “What a batch-imported video looks like”When videos are imported in bulk, the app fills in the details for you so you don’t have to type them:
- Title — a headline derived from what the video is about.
- Author — the presenter / creator (when it can be told from the video).
- Text — a short description shown under the title.
- Header image — a still frame taken from the video, shown as the cover.
- Transcript — the full spoken text, shown in the collapsible Transcript panel below the video, and used by search and the AI assistant.
- Tags — a few topic tags.
You can edit the topic like any other: change the title, the description, the tags, the cover or the transcript, comment, react, and share it.
Reading a video topic
Section titled “Reading a video topic”- The video plays at the top of the topic.
- The Transcript panel sits below the video (collapsed — open it to read along). A language selector shows the original plus any available translations.
- Search and Ask the assistant include the transcript, so questions about a video are answered from what was said in it.
Where to try it
Section titled “Where to try it”Your VNCchannels+ administrator gives you your organisation’s address. In the demo environment the History channel already contains an imported video; sign in with your VNC SSO account.
Adding a batch needs an operator (it runs as a job — see the playbook); ask your Channels admin to import a list for you.
